Love and Mathematics

29 Apr 2021

I have written a post earlier Quickest way to narrow down a topic for Math IA. I hope you have found it useful.

To help students brainstorm for ideas for their Math IA, I have an interesting Math topic which I will like to share with you.

You must be wondering how love and mathematics are related. Mathematics can be used to draw interesting shapes and one of these is the cardioid.

A cardioid is plane curve traced by a point on the perimeter of a circle that is rolling around a fixed circle of the same radius.

The formula for cardioid curves can be expressed using polar points [rθ], where r is all the points on the plane some distance from the origin and θ can be any angle at all.

Complex graphs that are difficult to describe in rectangular coordinates can now be easily represented using polar coordinates.
